Al Qaeda Vows More Attacks

We have another threat from an Al Qaeda leader vows more attacks, now how will we respond? Continue with our "war on terror" and become even more vigorous in combating and deterring terrorist or attacks -- or as liberals seem to want, since an attack is inevitable simply sit back and wait until it does, I think not!
Al Qaeda deputy leader Aymen al-Zawahiri (search) marked the four-week anniversary of the deadly blasts in London's transit system by threatening more attacks on London and against the United States.
Al-Zawahiri, in a tape shown on the Al Jazeera satellite channel, warned that terrorists would strike again unless England and the United States withdraw troops from Iraq. The Al Qaeda leader, second in the organization behind Usama bin Laden, said British Prime Minister Tony Blair is to blame for the attacks in London.

More Desperation

If Democrats celebrating narrow U.S. House loss in Ohio isn't a sign of desperation I don't know what is. It was a "special" election - give me a break.
WASHINGTON (Reuters): Democrats on Wednesday celebrated a closer-than-expected loss in a special House of Representatives race in Ohio and called it a warning sign for Republicans entering the 2006 congressional elections.
But democrats have some bold things to say about this special election -- I actually laughed out loud when I read this next quote.
"Every Republican in Congress should consider himself put on notice," Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said of Tuesday's results.
However, everyone needs to have hope so who am I to dash their hope even it if that hope is based on a "special" election, which historically have erratic turnout providing unreliable data -- by the way, the democrat did loose.

Air America - Liars and The Lies They Tell

Michelle Malkin has a great column about Air America's double standard.
Air America's flagship New York City station is housed on Park Avenue at WLIB-AM, owned by Inner City Broadcasting. The company shunted aside its black-themed talk format at WLIB to accommodate Air America. In return, Air America made room for a few minority radio hosts and also entered into lucrative lease management agreements with Inner City Broadcasting, which owns and operates 17 radio stations in five markets.
The co-founder of Inner City Broadcasting is New York media mogul Percy Sutton, best known as Malcolm X's lawyer and former Manhattan borough council president. Sutton helped bail Sharpton out after Sharpton was ordered to pay former Dutchess County prosecutor Steven Pagones over the Tawana Brawley race hoax. Sutton also raised and donated money for Sharpton's 2004 presidential bid. Sharpton still broadcasts a Sunday radio show on WLIB. Sutton and Jackson are longtime friends and partners. Sutton served as Jackson's 1988 presidential campaign finance chairman. Jackson has lobbied on Sutton's behalf. Sutton sits on Jackson's Citizenship Education Fund. As original investors, Jackson and his wife reportedly hold more than 23,000 shares in Inner City Broadcasting.
I also agree with this assessment.
Where are they? Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are the supermen of the civil rights establishment -- able to leap tall buildings in a single bound to get in front of a picket line. When victim politics calls, the demagogic duo leap into patented action: March. Boycott. Shakedown. Repeat.
But the raging reverends are nowhere to be found as a scandal involving the liberal radio network Air America and a Bronx, N.Y.-based inner city charity for poor children brews. Why the silence?
[...]
Now you know why there will be no boycotts at Air America headquarters over the possible bilking of poor Bronx children. Race hustlers care about only one color: green.
More from the "big liar" himself:
Mr. Franken said he has learned details of the story only in the last week. He said Piquant LLC, current owner and operator of the radio network, found a record of the transfers while conducting a "forensic" investigation into the finances of the previous owner, Progress Media, which was run by Mr. Cohen. That internal probe was conducted before the city agency became involved, Mr. Franken said. Efforts by The New York Sun to reach Mr. Cohen for comment in recent days have been unsuccessful. (via The New York Sun)
But was their investigation only started because of a legal investigation, or had they already discovered the "larceny" and just did not say anything -- I think so, but you can make up your own mind.
A spokesman for the Department of Investigation, Keith Schwam, said that if Air America discovered the transfers before the city probe began, "They neglected to tell anyone at DOI or in the city about it." (via The New York Sun)

Recess Appoint - Good!

Bush names Bolton as U.N. ambassador -- good for him. I agree that "this post it to important" to play politics over... Good job!
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Ending a five-month standoff over a controversial nomination, President Bush on Monday used a recess appointment to name John Bolton the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
'This post is too important to leave vacant any longer, especially during a war and a vital debate about U.N. reform,' Bush said from the Roosevelt Room at the White House.

I Thought This was Great

We said farewell to a freind last week and after receiving this excellent story from our vet -- I thought it was worth sharing.

Dogs Have Souls - Don't They?
Copyright Chuck Wells

I remember bringing you home. you were so small and cuddly with your tiny paws and soft fur.

You bounced around the room with eyes flashing and ears flopping. Once in a while, you'd let out a little yelp, just to let me know this was your territory.

Making a mess of the house and chewing on everything in sight became a passion, and when I scolded you, you just put your head down and looked up at me with those innocent eyes, as if to say, "I'm sorry, but I'll do it again as soon as you're not watching."

As you got older, you protected me by looking out the window and barking at everyone who walked by. When I had a tough day at work, you would be waiting for me with your tail wagging just to say, "Welcome home. I missed you." You never had a bad day, and I could always count on you to be there for me.

When I sat down to read the paper and watch TV, you would hop up on my lap, looking for attention. You never asked for anything more than to have me pat your head so you could go to sleep with your head over my leg.

As you got older, you moved around more slowly. Then, one day, old age finally took its toll, and you couldn't stand on those wobbly legs anymore. I knelt down and patted you lying there, trying to make you young again. You just looked at me as if to say you were old and tired and that after all these years of not asking for anything, you had to ask me for one last favor.

With tears in my eyes, I drove you one last time to the vet. One last time, you were lying next to me. For some strange reason, you were able to stand up in the animal hospital; perhaps it was your sense of pride.

As the vet led you away, you stopped for an instant turned your head and looked at me as if to say, "Thank you for taking care of me."

I thought, "No, thank you for taking care of me."

King Fahd Dies

If you remember I posted, Could This be True, which referred to a report from "World Peace Hearld" that reported King Fahd dead on May 27, 2005. Although interesting when exactly he may have passed away the big questions are still -- "If yes, what could it mean to the region short term and long term? -- and long term? Crown Prince Abdullah has been named his successor so what could that mean? There are reports that President Bush and Crown Prince Abdullah have a "good", if we know what that means, relationship... Some excerpts from Reuters.
RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's King Fahd died on Monday and Crown Prince Abdullah was swiftly pronounced monarch of the world's largest oil exporter and a key U.S. ally.

A Saudi source said the kingdom's oil policy would not change. Diplomats said they expected no major shifts in foreign policy under King Abdullah, who is at least 80 and has run day-to-day affairs since a stroke debilitated Fahd in 1995.

"With deep sorrow and pain, the royal court... mourns the death of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd due to illness," said Information Minister Iyad bin Amin Madani, reading an official statement on state television.

Fahd, who was believed to be 83 and had been in poor health, had entered hospital on May 27 with acute pneumonia. A medical source said he died at around 6 a.m. local time (0300 GMT). (Read entire article here.)

Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act - Is Not Immunity

No special 'immunity'
You can't blame GM for run-down pedestrians.
You can't blame Buck for knife stabbings.
You can't blame Stanley for crowbar beatings.
But you can blame firearm-makers for criminal misuse of firearms.
That's the ruinous exploitation happening right now that must be stopped by the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.
The act would end a decade of prejudiced and predatory lawsuits designed to put gunmakers out of business.
Gun prohibitionists have failed to get their social agenda from Congress. So they've turned to the courts, where it takes just one activist judge to issue a death sentence for America's firearms companies.
Don't be fooled by phony claims that the act would 'shield' gunmakers or would give them special 'immunity.' The act wouldn't give gunmakers any more protection than any other industry has. It simply would ensure that gunmakers have equal protection from third-party liability that other industries already enjoy. Gunmakers and sellers are still liable for defective products or violating the myriad of laws regulating sales.

Amen brother, the "anti-gun" lobby would have you believe that the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act would grant "special" immunity to gun makers -- that is a lie, plain and simple. The act would ensure that an industry, which has both big business and entrepreneurs, would enjoy the same protection and rights as any other business. I will add another example to the list the author shared -- what if a rapist utilized a condom he received via government sponsored programs?
  1. Would he have committed the rape had he not received the condom?

  2. Is the fault of the program that distributed the condom?

  3. Would he government itself be responsible for the rape?

  4. Should we stop all "condom" distributing programs because if the above possibilities?

I am being facetious and chose a program supported by liberals to demonstrate the absurdity of the "special immunity" claim posed by "anti-gun" groups, who are mostly liberal.

No Kidding Al -- Something To It?

Statement from Air America Radio - Air America Radio
Liberals are all over the net say "there is nothing to the allegations" of diverted funds -- "stealing" from children... I say really, if there is nothing to it Air American certainly did not waste any time trying to explain it away -- I am of course using liberal logic which appears to only apply when the scandal is associated with conservatives - interesting?
If the allegations of mismanagement and corruption at Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club are true, it is absolutely disgraceful.
Actually, as with all scandals, I believe we should let the investigation play out and the chips fall where they may -- the guilty pay and the innocent continue with their lives and for Air America that involves hating everyone that doesn't agree with them.

Oh So Caring Liberals

Robin Hood and Air America - The Washington Times
Did Al Franken's liberal radio network Air America divert city money for the elderly and inner-city children to itself? That's the question people should be asking this week after the revelation that the New York Department of Investigation is looking into whether hundreds of thousands of dollars were illegally transferred from a Bronx community center to Air America. Only a community paper and a few Internet bloggers seem interested in what could be an egregious case of illegal funneling of tax dollars to a private, partisan organization.
NYC diverts funds to Air America -- this is an interesting story and I don't think I should reinvent the wheel -- Michelle Malkin has the scoop with informative links. You can see Michelle Malkin's entry's here, here, here, and here.

Spring Pullout?

The U.S. Signals Spring Start for Pullout, the media is reporting. Don't get me wrong this is good news -- but is the headline misleading? I have included excerpts from an article; however it took four paragraphs to get -- "If the political process continues to go positively, and if the development of the security forces continues to go as it is going, I do believe we'll still be able to take some fairly substantial reductions after these elections in the spring and summer" -- that is a pretty big IF. I personally believe we will begin pulling some, but not the quantities anit-war advocates wish. Nevertheless, I believe this is good news.
BAGHDAD, July 27 -- The top U.S. military leader in Iraq said Wednesday there could be substantial withdrawals of some of the 135,000 U.S. troops in the country as early as next spring.
Gen. George W. Casey said that despite continued lethal attacks by insurgents, the security situation in Iraq had improved. He reiterated a position he had taken earlier this year on the possible decrease in the U.S. military presence during a one-day visit by Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld for meetings with Prime Minister Ibrahim Jafari.

Do They Care Who They Kill?

The animals (terrorist) have killed Algerian envoys and I simply don't understand why people in the US are still against our action in Iraq and in turn for these animals. There is no "rhyme or reason" to their (the animals) thought process -- the kill fellow Iraqis, they call fellow Muslims, they anyone including themselves (suicide bombers) -- their animals with no logic at all and like "rabid" animals need to be put down.
Algeria has confirmed that its two abducted diplomats in Iraq have been killed by their captors.
The announcement by the president's office came after a group claiming to be al-Qaeda in Iraq posted an internet message saying it had killed the pair.

No Kidding - Part Two

South Korea Proposes Accord to Break Nuclear Deadlock
Now we have South Korea as the peacekeeper -- the way it should be, demonstrating to both South and North Korea's population they (the South) "care" for both. Does this surprise anyone -- I called it blackmail months ago and a "pledge of aid" is what North Korea wanted and needed all along. Let us see out it plays out.
July 27 (Bloomberg) -- South Korea proposed that immediate aid be pledged to North Korea as soon as the nation agrees to verifiable steps to end its nuclear program, seeking to break a deadlock at six-party talks.
South Korea outlined the strategy to end disagreements on the timing of commitments at the second day of negotiations in Beijing, said a South Korean official attending the talks, who briefed the media on condition of anonymity. The U.S., China, Japan and Russia are the other participants.

Blast Off!

The Shuttle Discovery Blasts Into Orbit signifying our return to space -- Good Luck and God Speed!
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Discovery and seven astronauts blasted into orbit Tuesday on America's first manned space shot since the 2003 Columbia disaster, ending a painful, 2 1/2-year shutdown devoted to making the shuttle less risky and NASA more safety-conscious.

Well MSN (Microsoft) is Trying

However, they failed my test -- my neighborhood that has been around for more then five years does not exist per "Virtual Earth" -- Google Maps and Google Earth have it and are only about six months behind development of newer neighborhoods around us... Keep trying MSN

UPDATE: Although I did not intend to bash MSN, I guess I am -- MSN Maps & Directions have been missing my neighborhood for years but Yahoo, Google, and Mapquest have it. Guess the reason I am pointing this out is I notified two of the four over a year ago and just one -- MSN, apparently ignored our little corner of the world.

Democracy Move Forward -- We Hope

The Iraq Sunnis to end constitution committee boycott, clearing the way to move forward with the Iraqi constitution... I, unlike liberal "naysayers", am aware of the time it took the founding fathers to draw up the United States Constitution (1787) and look forward to progress being made on the Iraqi constitution. Will they agree immediately, NO -- will they agree in a year, probably not -- can they have a "working" constitution, yes. This "working" constitution could and will (in my opinion) go a long way in showing the Iraqis what democracy has to offer -- changes to this constitution are inevitable, but isn't' that the wonderful thing about democracy?
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Sunni Arabs said on Monday they would return to the bargaining table to hammer out a constitution for Iraq, ending a standoff that threatened to torpedo the political process amid worsening bloodshed.
With just days left before the draft constitution was due, the Sunnis had stormed out of the negotiations last week after one of their committee members was gunned down in front of a restaurant.
But they said they would call off their boycott after their demands for better security and a probe into the assassination were met at crisis talks on Monday.
'We will definitely return tomorrow,' said Saleh Mutlaq, spokesman for the Sunni umbrella group Iraqi National Dialogue, which represents slain committee member Mujbil al-Sheikh Isa.

Follow-up on Funeral Crasher

To follow up on Moon-bat Liberal Funeral Crashers; Governor Rendell will send apology to Marine's family. Is this enough? I agree with Michelle Malkin, it is not enough - where is the public apology. Some updates to the story from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette which ran the original story over the weekend:
Written apologies will be sent to a fallen Marine's relatives angered by Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll's uninvited appearance at the soldier's funeral and her criticism of the war in Iraq, Gov. Ed Rendell said Sunday.
Rendell said he will send a personal letter to the family of the late Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich, of Westwood, and will ask Knoll to do the same. Goodrich, 32, a police officer and infantry unit leader, died July 10 in a mortar attack in Hit, Iraq.
