Not even close! Imagine my surprise when a actual newspaper tells us some truth - Really how do you compare something to '29 when it ain't even as bad as '79???

The Economic Crunch: Today's money troubles 'not even close' to 1929 collapse
"They ain't tough enough to make it back yonder," says 94-year-old Beatrice Boyd, who had seven sisters, six brothers, and was the daughter of a Covington sharecropper. "They talk about hard times now? It ain't no hard time now."

Dr. Dale Bails, dean of business at Christian Brothers University, agrees.

"She's right," he said. "There's no comparison. None. It's not even close."

It is going to be a bad Christmas shopping season, right? I ain't believing it! It was reported Black Friday was 10% better than 2007; however, one week later we hear the gloom and doom - Worst season in decades! Right, in a week we go from super to sucks..don't believe it, don't get suckered into it's the end as we know it and "the government has to save us" process. Anyone reading this remember Carter and mortgage rates between 19 and 28%?

I am out with my wife shopping, well I shopped at best buy, now I am sitting in Starbucks waiting on her - The place is packed as it is every year. Then I read the below story - People are spending and spending well...news like this doesn't fit the mold!
SEATTLE - Online retailer Amazon.com Inc. called this holiday season its "best ever," saying Friday that it saw a 17 percent increase in orders on its busiest day - a rare piece of good news in a season...

Believe what you will about the "gloom and doom" economy; however, people spending big money on NON-essentials in the middle of "gloom and doom" either says it ain't so gloomy or there are a lot of stupid people out there.
U.S. retail sales of video game hardware, software and accessories jumped 10 percent last month from the year-ago period to $2.91 billion, boosted by strong sales of Nintendo Co.'s Wii, Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 and the alien shooter game "Gears of War 2." By BARBARA ORTUTAY AP Technology Writer

I catching up on the news I found this from the AP interesting.
WASHINGTON - People will soon be able to carry concealed, loaded guns in most national parks and wildlife refuges.

The Bush administration said Friday it is overturning a 25-year-old federal rule that severely restricts loaded guns in national parks.

Can't wait to read/hear the comments from the left on this...

In reading today's news I spotted this in the AP -
The NBER says its group of academic economists who determine business cycles met and decided that the U.S. recession began in December 2007.

Looks like some our again changing definitions to match "their" template.

Like in previous years I wanted to post the Thanksgiving proclamation.

WHEREAS, It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor;

WHEREAS, Both the houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted' for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have show kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

I guess it seems only right in a year like this we loose the homecoming game against a team we should be on "any given Saturday"...so much for this year, but I guarantee you we are going to a bowl this year - The Toilet Bowl

Tennessee records seventh loss for only second time in history
Wyoming came in a nearly four-touchdown underdog, the lowest scoring team in major college football and languishing near the bottom of the Mountain West Conference.

It is over - 206 with California results not even in...CA has 55 electoral votes and only 270 are needed. Do the math...well Mr. Carter, I think you may not be "the worst President in my lifetime", you may have just gone up a notch.

This wasn't a surprise - Do I agree he needs to leave, yes; however, Tennessee football is better for his being there!

Fulmer out as Vol football coach after 17 years
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Tennessee’s Phillip Fulmer has confirmed he’s leaving at the end of this season, implying that he’s been forced out after 17 years that included a national championship.
Tennessee Volunteers coach Phillip Fulmer agrees to step down
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Saying he would accept the university's decision, an emotional Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer confirmed Monday at a tension-filled press conference at Neyland Stadium that he would not return next season. Fulmer, tearing up several different times and with many of his players openly glaring at Tennessee athletic director Mike Hamilton, made it clear that it wasn't his decision to step aside after 17 seasons at his alma mater. "Many fans have been supportive. Some have been angry. All of us are disappointed," said Fulmer, who brought Tennessee its first national championship in 47 years in 1998. "I'm proud that the accomplishments over the last 17 years have been part of such high expectations. "Our Tennessee family is united in its goals, but divided in the right path to get there. I love Tennessee too much to let her stay divided."
Fulmer to leave Tennessee at end of season
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- An emotional Phillip Fulmer, with his wife at his side and tearful, angry players surrounding him, announced Monday that he had accepted Tennessee's decision that this will be his last season as the Volunteers coach.

Fulmer, 58, is being forced out after 17 years as Tennessee's coach, a run that included a national championship. He has a 150-51 record with the Vols, including the 1998 NCAA title -- the school's first since 1951.

Taking a "get away", we have traveled to the Nation's Capital.

I have enjoyed all the "free" visits to our national monuments and museums.

Let me say we have a great country - I have renewed interest in our people and our international visitors. In pouring down rain and few umbrellas the museums and monuments were packed...with "smiling" people.

Well having had to fly for years and being able to stop - I haven't had to fly for sometime and the trips I have taken since limiting my business travel have been on international carriers.
Well today I am taking a vacation and wanted to describe my experiences.
The check points are pretty much as they have been for some time and it really doesn't matter if you are traveling internationally or domestically.
Sitting on my flight, currently in flight, I see what I despise about US owned airlines - They have us hostage to their rudeness. They don't even have a need to pretend to treat us as paying customers.
I understand the business need to generate revenue by charging for everything but the air you breath (not yet anyway) - Don't agree but understand. I don't understand the "we take your money to tell you what to do" attitude.
I am serious there are a lot of little king and queens working for airlines...they appear to hate their jobs and us the customer...
Basically we are hostages, maybe Stockholm syndrome will kick in soon and I will change my attitude toward my captors - But' I doubt it.

Joe wildly received
"It actually upsets me," Mr. Wurzelbacher said. "I am a plumber, and just a plumber, and here Barack Obama or John McCain, I mean these guys are going to deal with some serious issues coming up shortly. The media's worried about whether I paid my taxes, they're worried about any number of silly things that have nothing to do with America. They really don't. I asked a question. When you can't ask a question to your leaders anymore, that gets scary. That bothers me."
"Joe", you can ask a question of our leaders; however, where the "media's man" is concerned you must ask the right question and one that hurts his opponent not one that really needs to be answered - Think about it why hasn't anyone in the media asked...
  • With your plan what constitutes a small business?
  • The $250,000 figure is that gross or net revenue?
  • On personal tax, if $250,000 is the magic number, why did you vote to raise taxes on anyone making $42,000?
...but, you will not hear these questions form the media - Obama, would then have to explain something. NO they (the media) will spend the limited time investigating you, because you mean so much to the rest of the population. Makes no sense does it, but remember they (the media) are so much smarter than the rest of us, there has to be a reason for this we are just to ignorant to understand it.

Again it it worth noting, I am not, have never been, and will never be a John McCain fan; however, he is a 100% better choice than Obama.

Now if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it's a duck - Or bias in this case; however, I am not sure why the McCain camp is surprised...no other conservative should be, oops I forget McCain ain't a conservative... Anyway it is nice to see them trying to call the NY Times on their bias. Wonder how long it will last before McCain declares it "off limits".

McCain Camp Fires Back at Times for Cindy McCain Story
The campaign's outrage comes on the heels of a letter Cindy McCain's attorney, John Dowd, wrote earlier this month to New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller accusing him of biased coverage for not pursuing more information about Obama's personal life.

"It is worth noting that you have not employed your investigative assets looking into Michelle Obama," Dowd wrote in the letter, which the campaign has made public now in response to the latest report by the Times.

"You have not tried to find Barack Obama's drug dealer that he wrote about in his book, 'Dreams of My Father,'" he continued. "Nor have you interviewed his poor relatives in Kenya and determined why Barack Obama has not rescued them. Thus there is a terrific lack of balance here."

We have all heard the claim, and I am a little surprised a media outlet (albeit a small one) let the cat out of the bag - It ain't TRUE... Who do you think is more credible the Secret Service or ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN,MSBNC (also known as the Obama election committee)?

Secret Service says "Kill him" allegation unfounded
SCRANTON – The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.

I do find today's media comical and enjoy watching them think so much of themselves... We have them declaring McCain/Palin rallies hateful while never reporting the vandalism and destruction of McCain headquarters...but, you and I are to stupid to realize this. Then again viewership and subscriptions are down while media outlets all over are laying people off (maybe we ain't that stupid, and they are).

Anyway we have a new wave of "fear mongering" at election time - an AP headline reads "Retail sales plunge 1.2 percent in September"... Plunge, plunge (?) doesn't that make you think of something other than 1.2%? Plunge makes me think it is a big deal, something that hasn't happened for some time...not just three years or thirty-six months, as we read.
plunging by the largest amount in three years
But we aren't supposed to read and certainly not think, Mr. Crutsinger will do that for you - Just shut-up and be scared and know that only the media and their choice (Obama) can help you!

The election is over - You shouldn't even worry about going to vote after all what is the point it's a fourteen (14) points deficit...........................wait read further, who do you believe? We have a 14 point, a 5 point, and a 4 point difference - Is someone lying, playing with the numbers, or trying to manipulate the election? I leave it up to you to decide!

Poll: Obama Opens 14-Point Lead On McCain - CBS News
The Obama-Biden ticket now leads the McCain-Palin ticket 53 percent to 39 percent among likely voters, a 14-point margin.
HOLD on just a minute it is only a five (5) point difference.

Rasmussen Reports
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday once again shows Barack Obama attracting 50% of the vote while John McCain earns 45%. That’s the third straight day with identical numbers and the nineteenth straight day that Obama’s support has stayed in the narrow range from 50% to 52% while McCain has been at 44% of 45%
Wait just a minute, it is only four (4) points!

Obama has 4-point lead on McCain
Democrat Barack Obama has a 4-point national lead over Republican John McCain as the White House rivals head into their final debate, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.
