GW's Fault? Give 'em Time

Worst seen over for Midwest floods, cleanup starts

EAST ST. LOUIS, Illinois (Reuters) - The worst Midwest flooding in 15 years eased on Saturday after the swollen Mississippi River crested in St. Louis, but the toll was still rising as billions of dollars in damage to crops, communities and infrastructure were assessed.

What is different between this tragedy and Katrina.....oh yeh, New Orleans - The politicians, the... Kinda like the difference in Louisiana and Mississippi after Katrina - Some knew what had to be done and others wanted it done for them...

I have hope, the media will soon start blaming the President, screaming for FEMA, victimizing the residents - Even if those same residents won't!

"Supply and Demand" - 101

Cal Thomas has a good column on oil, it's prices, and what we could have done! We can still do some of this, but the impact would be years away... But the dirty little secret - "Big Oil" ain't the major problem, those that want you to believe "Big Oil" is the problem, is the problem.

In Defense of 'Big Oil'
According to government estimates, there is enough oil in areas accessible to America - 112 billion barrels - to power more than 60 million cars for 60 years. The Outer Continental Shelf alone contains an estimated 86 billion barrels of oil and 420 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Had President Clinton not vetoed exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in 1995, when oil was $19 a barrel, America would currently be receiving more than 1 million barrels a day domestically, all of it taken by better technology than existed more than 30 years ago. That was when the Alaskan pipeline was built despite protests from environmentalists who claimed it would destroy the caribou. It didn't, but the environmentalists are back with the same discredited arguments. Because most of the oil remains "off-limits," we are becoming more dependent on foreign oil.

Isn't it Safe for The Planet

I thought all the environmentalist wanted me driving a "hydrogen" car - Are you telling me it is just as volatile as fossil fuel? Safer for the planet? Maybe yes, just not us humans - An inconvenient truth:-)

Hydrogen Leak in Connecticut Forces Dozens From Homes
MIDDLEBURY, Conn. — Dozens of homes were evacuated here early Tuesday after a tractor-trailer ran off the shoulder on Interstate 84, tumbled down an embankment and began leaking highly volatile hydrogen gas.

This is Just Stupid

Well the city was stupid - Simple as that. But Ms Abileah really should listen to herself, or maybe she is a Berkley grad, which would explain a bunch! Let's look at the excerpt below.

Berkeley under fire for stance on Marines - Los Angeles Times
"We're not looking for a fight, and we expect the police to be there to help keep the peace," Rae Abileah, a national organizer for Code Pink, said about the group's vigil. "The right-wing groups are trying to make this into an issue of whether you are for or against the Marines. It's not about that. It's about the war in Iraq and the deceitful tactics by military recruiters."
Let's see, she want us to believe it is not about being "for or against the Marines" - Those deceitful people! Well I am convinced (NOT!) how 'bout you?

Farewell!

May be dating myself but I enjoyed many of Mr. Scheider's movies (Jaws, Blue Thunder, etc.) - Our prayers are with his family.

Jaws Star Roy Scheider Dies
The actor, twice nominated for an Oscar but perhaps best known for uttering "You're gonna need a bigger boat" in Jaws, died Sunday night at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock. He was 75.

More Lies - By The Way is Bush Running Again?

Look, I have my problems with some of President Bush's decision's, mainly the lack of conservative domestic policy - Not to Mention attempting to include liberals in on the "domestic policies" like it will accomplish anything! However, if the President or Vice President are "dumb and evil" as Mr Rutten would want you to believe - Why would there be a need to lie about what either said?

Well I guess the MSM still believe they are running against Bush in this years election.
Tim Rutten lied - Period!
Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Vice President Dick Cheney was addressing the meat-eaters at the Conservative Political Action Conference. He told them that he was glad the administration had tortured people and that he'd do it again: "Would I support those same decisions again today? You're damn right I would."

Let's look at what VP Cheeny actually said by looking at the transcript:
The United States is a country that takes human rights seriously. We do not torture -- it's against our laws and against our values.
[...]
From the very morning our nation was attacked on 9/11, the President of the United States has had to make some immensely enormous decisions. Every day he faces responsibilities that others would pale before. I've been there with him. I've seen him make the tough calls, and then weather the criticism and take the hits. President Bush has been tough and courageous. He's made the right decisions for the right reasons, and he always reflects the best values of the American people. I've been proud to stand by him and by the decisions he's made. And I would support those same -- and would I support those same decisions again today? You're damn right I would.
Not quite what Mr. Rutten reported is it? Go figure!

What if this was a Repblican...

...even better a white Republican? Let me see - The Church would be under attack and it's tax exempt status in question. Further, the candidate would be ridiculed daily for "talking to God". Amazing, simply amazing!

Obama Takes on Question of Faith
One piece features photos of Obama praying with the words "COMMITTED CHRISTIAN" in large letters across the middle. It says Obama will be a president "guided by his Christian faith" and includes a quote from him saying, "I believe in the power of prayer."

They Need a Break!

Let's see - since taking power the Democrats have accomplished what? Not one thing they "promised" or "claimed the American people wanted"; however, it seems they are getting more time off! Wasn't President Bush's "alleged" time off a big deal in the 2004 election? On never mind, just another double standard - A standard where democrats are concerned!

Democrats Plan a Shorter Workweek - New York Times
WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 — Shortly after winning a majority last year, Democrats triumphantly declared that they would put Congress back to work, promising an “end to the two-day workweek.” And indeed, the House has clocked more time in Washington this year than in any other session since 1995, when Republicans, newly in control, sought to make a similar point.

But 10 months into the session, with their legislative agenda often in gridlock with the Bush administration and a big election year looming, the Democrats are now planning a lighter schedule when the 110th Congress begins its second year in mid-January.

The House majority leader, Representative Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland, told fellow Democrats this week that the House would not be in session next year on Fridays, except in June for work on appropriations bills.

Good News from Iraq?

Well you cannot be picky when it comes to "good news" about Iraq being reported by MSM. Read this article for yourself - There is "good news"; however, the writers do find some quotes to support the usual pessimistic opinion.

Al-Qaeda In Iraq Reported Crippled
The U.S. military believes it has dealt devastating and perhaps irreversible blows to al-Qaeda in Iraq in recent months, leading some generals to advocate a declaration of victory over the group, which the Bush administration has long described as the most lethal U.S. adversary in Iraq.
[...]
"AQI is definitely taking some hits," the official said. "There is definite progress, and that is undeniable good news. But what we don't know is how long it will last . . . and whether it's sustainable. . . . They have withstood withering pressure for a long period of time." Three months, he said, is not long enough to consider a trend sustainable.

Not so Outrageous Afterall

Would you classify this as a defeat? Democrats approving that which they condemned when it was politically advantageous to... Of course, the politically blind will not..."blind leading the blind!"

Democrats Seem Ready to Extend Wiretap Powers
Two months after insisting that they would roll back broad eavesdropping powers won by the Bush administration, Democrats in Congress appear ready to make concessions that could extend some crucial powers given to the National Security Agency

"Hello Pot I The Kettle"

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on Wednesday denounced Vice President Dick Cheney as a "disaster"
Story
A "disaster" accusing another of being...he is delusional. Agree or disagree with Cheney you have to admit it is comical to here Jimmy Carter making this accusation - Heck it probably elevates Cheney to many!
